Christ Himself
If Christ Himself, who knew God's plan, could still be moved to tears,
And cry out for another way, in anguish and in fear,
Then surely He must know the depth of my most desperate plea,
And He will be an advocate for me.
If Christ Himself, God's own dear Son, at His most awful hour,
Was cut loose from His father's love, abandoned by His power,
Then surely when we cannot see an answer to our prayer,
Our Saviour knows the burden that we bear.
If Christ Himself, who knew no sin, it's penalty could bear,
A judgment that seemed so unjust, a suffering so unfair,
Then when this world of pain and need compels us to ask why,
Our Saviour feels the turmoil in our cry.
Oh Christ, my Saviour and my Lord, I fall into Your grace.
In all my guilt, my doubt and fear, I long to see Your face.
Roll on the day when doubt will die, when pain and tears shall end,
As we behold our Holy God and friend.
