Dreams

by Brian MacGeorge

Have you ever had a dream that was so real you felt like you could reach out and hold it? I'm not talking about the ones you have at night when your body shuts down and your mind drifts off to sleep. I'm talking about the ones that are still with you when you wake each morning. You carry it with you through your daily routine. You turn the corner on the street, half expecting to step into a whole new world. It's the kind of dream that makes you wonder sometimes if you are actually in a dream, just waiting to wake up.

I've had this kind of dream for years. Some days I don't see it as clearly as others but it is always there in some corner of my mind, urging me to go on. It whispers to me "I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." I look around at where I am and struggle to see it. I see myself living from paycheck to paycheck. I see hurts and problems building a wall before me. I see doubt creeping around in the shadows, waiting for an opportunity to pounce.

But there is something else there as well. It is small and hard to see through the haze. As I fix my eyes upon it, it becomes clearer. it is a light upon the horizon that slowly grows brighter as the rising sun. It is not here yet, but I can see Him coming.

"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.

For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

2 Corinthians 4:18
