Too Late

    by Patrick O'Leary

Here we are now
What are you going to do?
Just stare, look at what you will
Your words are speaking louder than your actions
You say you care, but when the rain falls, you duck for shelter
And you leave me drenched looking around
Afraid you are of you shadow, are you afraid it'll haunt you?
Your own destiny awaits, but you're too scared to face what you've done
Time for the truth to fall like a thousand nails
Till it breaks skin, you think of the world as yourself
Can't run when the blood flows....no where to hide
You're too busy, holding your head so high
You're staring at the ground looking behind you
Trying to mark off where you left off
Stop trying to make sense
Your sense serves as well as the devil serves us
Can't you see beyond these horizons?
They're stained with what you might call blood
But they're lies
Wishing they had a chance to turn their back and run and change
Doesn't work like that
Will you join the underworld or will you take a stand?
This poem wasn't written for joy
This was written to get a point across
Live your life as God wants it
Or it's a promise you'll be crying in the wrong place
Tears can't burn out a fire, find another way to put your demise out
I'm sorry friend...but it's too late
